Decomposition is an experiment with AI (artificial intelligence), using it to produce work that blurs the lines between masculinity and femininity. When inputting images of masculine bodies decorated with flowers, artificial intelligence becomes confused, unsure of how to identify and censor the body of this ‘unknown gender.’ This work is showcasing the fluidity and complexity of these concepts; we can compare the biases that these programs have with the biases that we have as humans.
